The interior of the penthouse with lake view, in Zurich‘s most sought-after location, had become somewhat long in the tooth. The room, dating back to the seventies with its island-style living space and white tiles, was no longer in line with today‘s requirements for warmth and comfort. As part of a renovation project, Bureau Hindermann was asked to develop ideas to soften the living and eating areas as well as the wet rooms of this rented property.
The previously symmetrical island-style living space was firstly given a clearer focus by adding a bar in the form of a log wall. The bar‘s back-lighting is combined with the new lighting module of the island, allowing different mood lighting to be selected.
Considerable importance has been attached to the uninhibited view over Lake Zurich. Here, the designers created a new seating and relaxation area from which the fantastic lake view can be savoured. To visually accentuate the different sections and levels of the island, it is now enveloped by a translucent curtain. Using simple but effective methods, the room has been given a completely new perspective which is stunning and yet ticks all the right boxes in terms of comfort and cosiness.
