Concept/planning/implementation of a conversion of a top floor into a Call Centre

Swiss Call AG 2002, CH-Zurich

During the second construction phase at SwissCall Kommunkationsfabrik, the main focus was on the conversion of the top floor to create a modern user friendly workspace. The design is largely dedicated to the spacious team-orientated workstations. Tailoring the shape of the desks to the environment led to a significant increase in comfort.

More

The use of lighting and graphic elements allowed the atmosphere of an environment dominated by computer screens to be broken up. References to nature and the job of the Call Centre operative are inherent in the design.

A back-lit sky motif covers the ceiling, creating an illusion of natural light pouring into the room. The idea of working in an open-air environment seemed a natural one. The cool of the ceiling lighting is complemented by the orange strip lighting which illuminates the walls. The two light sources, which differ in terms of tonality and orientation, open up the room considerably. The horizontal strip light is geared towards language and communication and features the letters of the alphabet from A through to Z. This lettering is both a spatial as well as a thematic unifying element.
